Starsailor is an indie rock band from Chorley in England.
Starsailor travelled to Los Angeles in 2003 to record tracks for its second album Silence is Easy with legendary producer Phil Spector.
After achieving their first U.K. Top Ten hit with the single "Alcoholic," Starsailor's debut album, Love Is Here, was released in September 2001 to much critical fanfare, and a European tour closed out a highly successful year.

Starsailor was formed in Wigan by music students James Walsh on vocals and guitar, James Stelfox on bass, and Ben Byrne on drums and Barry Westhead on keyboards.

If Starsailor were encountering a rejuvenated Spector, he faced a very different band to the group of angst-ridden young men who had emerged from casual jobs and Wigan music college two years ago in a blaze of hype.
Starsailor's initial reaction was one of shock, sadness, for the victim, Nicole and Spector himself, who has claimed the gun went off by accident.

The lowering of the house lights and the original version of Alcoholic played through the PA indicated Starsailor were imminent, followed by the Soulsavers mix of Poor Misguided Fool and a crescendo of dramatic stage lighting to build the tension and expectation yet further.
They took a pause for James to say good evening and he commented on the recent phenomena of gig attendees phoning their lazy mates on mobiles to let them hear part of the gig and suggested now was a good time to do this.

Starsailor have been getting a lot of radio play in the UK, and, on account of them being included on The Osbourne Family Album I hazard a guess they might be getting some air-play state-side.
The first problem I have with Starsailor is the singer.
He has another of those whiney voices that make you want to find him and seal up his larynx with epoxy resin so as to make sure another sound never was allowed to pass through it.

Big credit goes to Starsailor since drummer Ben Byrne had been suffering from on-and-off again tendinitis in his left hand since the beginning of this US tour.
While most of the people in attendance were there for the Charlatans, Starsailor played their hearts (and hands) out to the crowd and proved they were a band who have mighty big potential.
The Charlatans have a huge Chicago following and are proud to admit that they love playing here as much as possible while Starsailor, having been here once before on a December 2001 mini-tour, definitely boarded a few more fans on their ship as well.
