The corporation’s operations are characterised by low business risks because of the tariff structure which is not linked to the quantity of electricity transmitted, but is based on grid availability.
For this, the corporation would take advantage of its national network of 40,080 circuit kms of transmission lines and retrofit optical fibre cables by changing the ground wire on the 14,000 kms of transmission lines.
Given the corporation’s vital role in India’s power sector and its sovereign ownership, the Government of India is expected to continue providing support to PGCIL by assisting it in recovering dues from SEBs and maintaining a favourable tariff structure.
