Florida State Road 826 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
State Road 826 didn't start as an expressway: that designation originally applied to a two-lane road (Golden Glades Drive, Northwest 167th Street) connecting US 1 to US 27 (SR 25) to the west.
In 1953, the newly-formed Florida Turnpike Authority presented plans for a four-lane Palmetto Bypass going around the Miami area, but nothing was done until 1958, when the Florida Department of Transportation decided to build a Palmetto Bypass Expressway themselves.
In addition, increasing traffic loads on SR 826 prompted plans for extending Florida's Turnpike to "bypass the bypass." In 1973, the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike (SR 821) was opened to traffic four miles to the west of the Miami area's original bypass in an attempt to reduce the traffic demands on SR 826.

Florida State Road 836   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
Florida State Road 836, locally known as the '''Dolphin Expressway''', is a 13-mile-long six-line divided tollway currently extending from U.S. Route 1 (SR 5) and SR A1A) in Miami westward past Miami International Airport to the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike (SR 821) in Sweetwater, Florida, USA.
Originally envisioned as the Twentieth Street Tollway in 1964 (with a spur to the airport along LeJeune Road), construction on the Fourteenth Street East-West Expressway between the Palmetto Expressway and US 1 started in 1967 and was completed in 1969.
With the failure of the Florida Department of Transportation to build either the previously-planned airport spur or the proposed LeJeune Road Expressway to give additional access to the airport, Miami-Dade County 's sole complete east-west throughway is now often congested, most commonly in the stretch between LeJeune Road (SR 953) and the Palmetto Expressway.
