		To ensure that school districts are not harmed by the delayed receipt of STAR payments, the State should reimburse school districts for interest losses and borrowing costs; school districts should also be allowed to carry higher fund balances.

	The Newark State School - Newark NY 14513
		Newark was an experimental branch of the Syracuse School.
		The School came under the jurisdiction of the Department of Mental Hygiene in 1927, after the general reorganization of State departments, and the name "Newark State School" was finally adopted.
		Now that the new school at West Seneca has been opened, it is expected that the number of retarded being cared for by Newark State School will decline considerably since this will restrict our admission area and cause the transfer of more of our patients to the new institution nearer their homes.

		SEATTLE (AP) - Nearly a third of Washington's school districts do not allow teachers to discuss condoms or any other form of contraception except for abstinence in their sex education classes, according to a new report paid for by a coalition working to reduce pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases among teens.
		Almost all the districts reported being familiar with new voluntary sex education guidelines adopted by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction in January 2005, and two-thirds of those districts said they changed their curricula to meet the new guidelines.
		Mary Myers of the School Nurses Organization of Washington, which is also part of the coalition, spoke afterward about why her organization is involved in the coalition.

	Clean School Bus Pollution Report Card
		Each state received a letter grade (A B, C, or D) for estimated tailpipe emissions of soot, which warrants the most concern because of its potential to cause toxic “hot spots”—areas of higher exposure for children in or near buses.
		Even states receiving highest marks for school bus cleanup programs are still challenged by older, dirtier buses in their fleets with Washington receiving a D and California a C for soot pollution.
		School buses are also eligible for cleanup under the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act, a comprehensive national cleanup program authorized by Congress at $200 million a year for five years.

	Ohio State School for the Deaf
