		Granted, 1996's 'Static Prevails' *** is largely a textbook emo record and never really keeps your attention throughout.
		There are too many instances of familiar sounding riffs and overwrought vocals for 'Static...' to be convincing.

		With their third album Clarity being one of the most overlooked masterpieces of 1999, Static Prevails is Jimmy Eat World paying their dues in 1996.
		Maybe it's all three, but what Static Prevails essentially lacks is the songwriting maturity that Jimmy Eat World could have perfected; but it's almost as if the studio heads at Capitol wouldn't let them so that there would be more room for radio-friendly pop songs.
		Much like their current hit album, "Static Prevails" contains a diverse bunch of emotional songs, but on "Static Prevails" the band seems to go for a somewhat rawer and less radio-friendly sound, allowing their emotions to show through more.

		Somebody with a final score of 9.7 can walk away with a gold medal while somebody with a 9.1 will be at the bottom of the pack, though it doesn’t mean that they are a bad performer.
		Thinking with clear heads this time around (no fear of being dropped), Jimmy Eat World has crafted a beautiful album that does its darnedest to distance the band from the emo tag that was slapped on the band early in their career.
		Even on Static Prevails, Jimmy Eat World seemed to be going for a more grandiose sound, influenced more by the wall-shaking guitar-rock anthems of the Smashing Pumpkins than by the emotional fragility of early emo pioneers Sunny Day Real Estate.

		During their self-educating stay at Capitol, Lind and the group created a pair of critically acclaimed albums, Static Prevails and Clarity, which were produced with Mark Trombino.
		Static Prevails was the more aggressive, noisier, and edgier installment, showcasing Lind's substantial rock drive and remnants of his punk-rock upbringing.
		It was on Static where Lind established his trademark sound as a highly dynamic performer, with an ability to explode at the drop of a hat.

	About The Songs
		On Static Prevails he does lead vocals on: "Rockstar", "Seventeen", "Episode IV", "Caveman", and "Robot Factory".
		They do try to mix it up and play songs off of Static Prevails and Clarity at their shows, but they also have to balance that with all their new songs.
		You have to remember that when they toured in support of Static Prevails, they played a lot of songs off that record.

		I personally think they're brilliant, I've watched them evolve as a band from their early stuff like "Static Prevails", to the brialliant album ballad album "Clarity" to the more "emo" type album "Bleed American".
		Their new album Futures is a more traditional medium rock/punk album, but in my opinion where they differ from a lot of punk bands today is they are doing their own things with different brilliant lyrics interlaced into original well thought out music.
		Static Prevails isn't really one of their older stuff, but meh.

		i'll go with fool, i thought it was a final version but they later decided to change it, i prefer static i forgot to mention that.
		I like the Singles version alot, infact i like alot of the tracks on the singles LP because they seem to have an energy that Static hasn't quite got even though it's a fantastic LP.

		This is my favorite full release of the band.
		Memorable tracks include "For Me this is Heaven," "Ten," and "Your New Aesthetic." The tracks seem a lot softer and less raw than static prevails, with “Your New Aesthetic” being an exception.
		The album features a lot of experimentation, and this is prevalent in the looping demo, "Goodbye Sky Harbor," which is 16+ minutes!
