Steamranger has four sleeping cars, either in service or in various states of restoration.
Steamranger has three carriages obtained from VLINE in 1985, they are "16BE", "18BE" and "24BE".
Steamranger has a former SAR ballast train, obtained from the State Transport Authority (STA) of South Australia consisting of the following rollingstock.

SteamRanger Heritage Railways is based at historic Mount Barker railway station in the Adelaide Hills, just 30 minutes east of the centre of the city of Adelaide in South Australia.
SteamRanger manages four steam locomotives and a number of historic carriages and owns other diesel locomotives and carriages in its own right.
SteamRanger is operated by volunteers of the Australian Railway Historical Society - South Australian Division.

 Victor Harbor Tourism - Steam Ranger Cockle Train
Steamranger is now a popular attraction that transports visitors to and from Fleurieu Peninsula townships on weekends and during school holidays only.
Steamranger assisted the celebrations of Australia's First Railway between between the 15th and 18th May 2004.
SteamRanger Cockle train services for November will continue to be two trains each Sunday, departing Goolwa at 2.30pm and 2.45pm and departing Victor at 1.30pm and 4.00pm.

 National Railway Museum - Port Adelaide
It was eventually purchased by Steamranger and arrived at their Dry Creek depot on 22nd October 1981.
It suffered a major engine failure early in 1991 and, as Steamranger had also previously acquired No.350, it was offered to the Museum as a static exhibit.
It was hauled to the museum by "Pacific" No.621 on Saturday 13th July 1991 and, after restoration to original condition, will be placed on permanent display.

1986 - The SteamRanger Tourist Railway - from Adelaide to Victor Harbor
Finally, as a trial, SteamRanger was given authority to set up a tourist railway by operating trains from Adelaide to Victor Harbor and with some reluctance, funding and resources were provided to assist in bringing the track up to an acceptable standard, first from Strathalbyn to Victor, then later from Mt Barker to Strathalbyn.
The new SteamRanger Tourist Railway was launched with a doubleheaded steam train to Victor in October 1986.

Steamranger is a successful and wonderful railroad that has suffered from some misfortunes in recent years.
They lost their trackage rights into Adelaide proper, so now one must drive to Mt. Barker, some 30 minutes away, to board.
I was on short time and didn't have much opportunity to do justice to the collection.

Cockles have long been used for fishing bait by many South Australian anglers.
All SteamRanger Cockle Trains will stop at Middleton as required.

 Look around Strathalbyn on the Fleurieu
Share a picnic withe ducks in the Soldiers Memorial Gardens, beside the tranquil Angus River.
Incidentally, Strathalbyn has a roving, resident Town Crier and the SteamRanger train connects from nearby Mount Barker on Sundays.
Strathalbyn provides an ideal base for visitors to explore the Fleurieu, with its network of roads leading out to the surrounding districts like spokes in a wheel.
