Quiet Man Film John Wayne Maureen O'Hara Fan Club
Fans worldwide of John Ford's classic movie The Quiet Man were last night rejoicing at the news issued by the Irish Government that the Western Rail Corridor linking Limerick and Claremorris is to reopen.
Padraig Mannion and his team at the Ballyglunin Railway Restoration project have already begun work to restore the station to its former glory when the movie was shot in the summer of 1951.
We welcome your ideas for new activities--for example, we are currently pursuing plans to have a version of the Quiet Man in the Irish language and many of us feel that it is high time the the lovely Maureen O'Hara was awarded an honorary Academy Award for her contribution to the Motion Picture Industry.

While I never bothered to glance at the steam boiler pressure gauge when using the Rituale, I would check it before I started steaming with the S1 to verify the pressure was at least 1.0 bar and wait the additional 20-30 seconds, if necessary.
The S1 steam arm mates evenly with the tip, that is, there is no “ridge” between the wand and the screw-on tip, so it wipes perfectly clean every time.
With the S-curve shape of the steam arm, it reaches to the bottom of the largest pitcher without difficultly and tucks away to the back of the drip tray when not in use.

Steaming - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Steaming is a preferred cooking method of health conscious individuals because no cooking oil is needed, resulting in a lower fat content.
Steaming also results in a more nutritious food than boiling because fewer nutrients are destroyed or leached away into the water.
On the contrary, vegetables are seldom steamed in Chinese cuisine, vegetables are mostly stir fried or blanched instead.

Steaming, which was director Joseph Losey's last film, is based on a play by Nell Dunn.
Although the movie is very stagy and the finale too predictable, it contains some fine ensemble acting which makes it well worth the journey to the theatre.
Steaming has much to say about the hopes, fears, failings and small triumphs of women who reveal to each other the truth about their lives.

Steaming up the screen - theage.com.au
Movie One's "MA" limit required the excising and discreet masking of several shots that would have pushed the film into the "R" category, the rating given to the complete film and DVD.
World Movies head Jacqui Feeney says the channel is defined as a narrowcaster because the films it shows are deemed to have limited appeal, the majority being in languages other than English, and are for niche audiences who seek out alternatives to mainstream cinema.
World Movies did not consider modifying Romance or In the Realm of the Senses, but it is worth noting that it screened the recent French film The Pornographer in an abbreviated "R" version, while the fate of other films such as Leos Carax's Pola X, which stars Guillaume Depardieu, is yet to be determined.

But the essential idea of such calibration is that a movie image should look the same on my display as it looks on your display, as it looked on the original broadcast monitors used for transferring the image.
And when watching movies I am often struck with the feeling “This is what these people and places really look like…more like I’m watching the events through the camera lens itself, before they were transferred to the artificial medium of film.” And it’s not simply my plasma.
So, in the "Steaming Rat" method, we are looking for an image with the least artificial cues; the least “electronic-looking,” most believable images possible.

What is truly a "trip," though, is that the picture, directed brilliantly by Robert Zemeckis, is animated, but animated in a special way never before used in a complete, feature-length film a major cinematic breakthrough that should impact films of this nature for years to come.
Note especially the show-stopping number toward the beginning of the story in which the avuncular train master, who is particularly skilled at punching personal messages into the tickets of the passengers, asks whether refreshments are in order.
While "The Polar Express" is obviously on the short list for at least one Oscar for Best Animated Feature, the best is yet to come as the entire movie will be re-released some time after the November 10th opening day in 3-D and projected in IMAX theaters.

A movie with established stars, a big budget, and a historical epoch that lends itself to drama has no reason NOT to work, but the Patriot was a mish-mash of melodrama and musket balls.
The trailer is extremely deceiving, making it seem like the movie is as frenetic and lighthearted as the light operas penned by it's subjects.

Santa Monica Mirror: At The Movies: Steaming Pile
It is at once silly and scary, and appears to be modeled after (as so many movies are these days) an amusement park ride rather than a story — not that the hoards of movie-goers who are drawn to this kind of flick give a damn either way.
Story is precisely what’s missing from Van Helsing, which plays exactly like a bad screenplay would read (if you’ve ever had the privilege of reading one), not that anyone shelling out $10.50 per ticket, $4.50 for a small popcorn, and $3.50 for a (we’re talking small) bottle of water would notice.
Sadly, the movie isn’t nearly as interested in telling a story as it is in showcasing the computer-generated effects.
