I called the school's firm and they not only hire you but know of other court reporting firms that will also (down in Atl, of course, but that's okay I'll move) The lady at the firm said pt reporters are making $30-50,000 and full time are making $50,000-$100,000.
I emailed a court here and the HR lady said they hire freelance stenomask, in fact, had an opening.
This style of CR is more popular down south but they have it here in MO. The cost is a little over $5,000 but they have a payment plan.

After learning about this, I found a school in MA that offered a program called "Stenomask Court Reporting." I had no idea what that was, but I loved court reporting so much and wanted to pursue it as a career that I looked into it.
I can honestly say from having experience in both stenotype and stenomask that I prefer stenomask.
So, I'd say that about 90 percent of all reporters that work in the court system in MA are stenomask reporters or "voice reporters." We all do the same job and in the end turn out the same product.
