Amicus Brief Filed by Members of British Parliment
We believe that the trial court's decision to refuse to allow John Africa to sit at counsel's table to assist the petitioner at his trial resulted in an outcome which was contrary to and cannot reasonably be justified under existing Supreme Court precedent.
If the trial court was concerned that John Africa might thereby unworthily assume the mantle of a lawyer in the eyes of the jury simply by sitting at counsel's table, the trial court could simply and quickly have disabused the jury.
In this case, the refusal to allow John Africa to sit with Mr Jamal at counsel's table amounted, in the circumstances, to the denial to Mr Jamal of effective aid at his trial, despite Mr Jackson's presence at counsel's table.

A Fathers Search for the Truth
Three weeks ago there was the first meeting of the new all-party parliamentary group on autism, chaired by Thanet South MP Stephen Ladyman, who says it was Thrower and other parents who kick-started this new committee.
When first alerted to the issues, Ladyman discovered that not only was there no government data on autism, but, "The government didn't know it didn't know." Oliver Thrower's problems are tragic and insoluble, and his father worries about what will happen when he and his partner are no longer around.
At the first meeting of the new group, the health minister John Hutton admitted that basic data is"conspicuously lacking", adding that the Department of Health might have to go back and look at the issue again.

Quite why Dr Ladyman feels able to scientically exclude the commonsense possibility that the measles antigen came from the MMR rather than single vaccine or wild measles, which the children are historically unlikely to have had, is a mystery.
An equal mystery is how he feels competent to exclude the possibility that the condition of the children is linked to the presence of the measles antigen (particularly without all the tests which Harris and Deer are so eager to prevent happening).

What can be clearly seen is that either the Department of Health does not know what it is doing from one day to the next or, on no good evidence, it has allowed itself to be overly influenced by the psychiatric lobby.
In my opinion, this makes their present unquestioning acceptance of the Wessely School’s expediently constructed psychiatric paradigm all the more culpable, because although people are justified in relying implicitly on these documents from official bodies quoted above, they are being badly let down when they attempt to do so.
