Stephen Merchant (born November 24, 1974 in Bristol, England) is a writer, director and actor.
Merchant is a graduate of the University of Warwick in Coventry and a former film reviewer on the student radio station, Radio Warwick where he began his broadcasting career.
Merchant made a cameo appearance as Oggy (also known as "The Oggmonster", although his real name is Nathan), a friend of Gareth Keenan, in the second series of The Office in 2002.

The American merchant Stephen DeLancey (1663-1741) founded an elite New York family and was an important colonial politician and entrepreneur.
He was, at various times, a commercial agent for several European merchant houses, a supplier of English troops quartered in different parts of the New World during successive colonial wars, merchant to English interests in Canada and to settlements in the New York wilderness, and moneylender to sundry enterprises sponsored by New York's colonial government.
Stephen's son, James DeLancey, born in New York in 1703, studied law in London and then returned to practice in his hometown.

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's earnest mockumentary "The Office" returns to BBC America on Oct. 21 with a two-hour special that serves as an epilogue for the 12-episode series that has earned critical raves and loads of awards (including a Peabody and Golden Globes) on both sides of the Atlantic.
Gervais and Merchant say they were inspired to create "Office" after laughing at how television turned everyday folks into Z-list celebrities.
Neither of them had ever done television before - the two first met when Gervais interviewed Merchant for a job at a radio station - but Merchant managed to wrangle a pilot commitment for it after he joined a BBC training program.

The same jokes hold true for most big corporations, but listening to Ricky's responses to Microsoft's core values really cracked me up.
My favorite clip is Ricky's response to being "open and respectful in all of our dealings." He recommends firing people with consistently bad ideas and making your good ideas work for you.
