Stepehn Milligan, the Conservative MP for Eastleigh, who has died at the age of 45, was regarded as one of the brightest and most promising of the 1992 intake of ambitious Tory backbenchers.
Milligan was at Magdalen College, Oxford, where he became president of the Union.
Milligan had begun to make his mark in the Commons as a Government loyalist and, recently, an effective defender of the party in its current troubles.

Just which piano this is, is not known, for it is a matter of record that Stephen composed many of his earlier songs while sitting at the piano of friends.
The story goes that the Woods family purchased the piano and that while it was still in the store of Kleber, Stephen tested the instrument and decided to buy it, only to have his heart broken when informed that the instrument had been sold.
