Stephen Timms advised Labour's information society policy forum in Opposition and was the honorary president of the Telecommunications Users Association and a member of the Council of the Parliamentary Information Technology Committee.

Stephen Creswell Timms (born 29 July 1955, Oldham) is a politician in the United Kingdom.
He is Labour Party member of Parliament for East Ham, and was first elected in a by-election in 1994.
He was a Minister of State at the Department of Trade and Industry, Minister of State for e-commerce and competitiveness, and has twice served as Financial Secretary to the Treasury, from 1999 to 2001 and September 2004 to May 2005, moving to become Minister for Pensions following the 2005 general election.
