 The Art of Stereo Photography
Stereograms and stereo photography started to lose public popularity during the early part of the twentieth century as cameras and photography became simpler and cheaper.
It follows that stereo photography is the art of taking two pictures of the same subject from two slightly different viewpoints and displaying them in such a way that each eye sees only one of the images.
However, all stereo photography using a single camera cannot be used where the subject is moving as the time delay between shots will mean that the subject will be in a totally different position or not even in the frame when taking the second image.

 Intro to Stereo
This typically involves the use of a "stereo" camera having two lenses, which are separated by a distance approximately equal to the distance between your eyes.
A few stereo cameras have been made which produce wider (7-sprocket) images, and superb stereo pictures can also be made using regular single-lens cameras either alone (for stationary subjects) or "twinned".
In stereo photography you will usually want to obtain the maximum depth-of-field possible, since pictures that are sharp from front to back help to maintain the realism of the scene.

Stereo photography utilizes photographs made from cameras or camera systems that make separate images (preferably made simultaneously) that are separated by a distance equal to the distance between a person’s eyes, known as the interocular distance.
The height of stereo photography popularity in the twentieth century came in the period from the late 1940's-the early 1960's at which time stereo became considered to be old-fashioned.
