Movie Review - Ed Gein - eFilmCritic
The setting is 1950’s Wisconsin and the film has a hard time even capturing the mood and feel of the era, let alone the bizarre manic behavior that made Gein such a laughable (and later dangerous) oaf in Plainfield, Wisconsin.
Steve Railsback stars as Gein and plays him as a maniacal little simpleton.
In fact, Railsback seems to be resurrecting the ghost of Anthony Perkins (via Norman Bates) in this performance, but missing the humanity Perkins brought to his famous PSYCHO role.

There's a single fairly whacked out scene where we see Steve Railsback dancing around wearing the murdered woman's skinned breasts and banging a tin drum, but this scene is all too brief.

This unsettling biopic explores the macabre life of the serial killer whose infamous crimes in the 1950s are said to be the basis for Psycho (1960), The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) and Silence of the Lambs (1987).
Haunted by memories of her after her death, Gein developed a gruesome interest in grave-robbing and body mutilation that ultimately led to two murders and the dismemberment of a dozen female corpses.
Director Chuck Parello (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Part 2) focuses on the psychology and sociology behind Gein's behavior, portraying him as a deceptively ordinary man who lived mostly unnoticed by his neighbors until his crimes were discovered.
