Steve marshalled the backline well and I fully expect Stubbs to do the same, now, we all understand hes lost his pace, but hhis job requires more than a touch of speed, it requires timing and control, that he has.

People will look at my defence and wonder why Steve Bould is there instead of maybe Tony Adams, but he did a lot of good stuff which went unnoticed.
You only notice a lot of what Steve does when you play with him and he was just as efficient as Tony.
Choosing this team was not an easy task - I'm still close to a lot of guys from my era and you never want to be disrespectful.

With over 350 appearances for the club and several goals to his name, Keown was an integral part of the Double-winning teams in 1997/98 and 2001/02 and contributed to Arsenal's European Cup Winners Cup campaign, despite losing his place to Steve Bould in the final against Parma.

Paul is a tough centre-back with a strong aerial presence, who began his career at Rochdale, before joining local rivals Bury in 1996 for £100,000.
In the summer of 1998 Paul moved to Sunderland for £1m after over 300 apperances in the lower leagues and established himself as Peter Reid's first choice centre-half in partnership with Steve Bould.
In the early part of the 2000/01 season Paul was taken on loan by Dave Jones to bolster the Wolverhampton Wanderers defence and after a number of good displays the move was made permanent in January 2001 for £1m.

Made his international debut as far back as 1992, when he was at Everton, but was then left out of the national side for almost four years between June 1993 and his return in March 1997.
