Michael Brown - (The Left Banke and The Stories)
They broke up after Brown's father was unable to sell their tracks to a label, only to have success with "Walk Away Renee", meriting touring (with the members on instruments, not just singing) and recording their first album.
Brown is really the foundation of the group, writing most of their songs, as well as contributing piano to most tracks.
But Brown's material isn't as strong this time, and it becomes quickly apparent that the group's vocals are not on the level of the Left Banke's.

Hamilton was either unhappy with his reeds throughout the second set, or changed them to suit the timbres of the tunes, but his inventiveness never faltered and he began segueing eagerly from one song to the next as if he could hardly wait.
Steve Brown's increasingly sympathetic echoing of Hamilton's accents and phrase-shapes suggested he was privy to his leader's brainwaves; Brown and bassist Green were placing their contributions right in Hamilton's footsteps by the later stages.
