Saxophonist Steve Douglas, Motown drummer Benny Benjamin and Nashville pianist Floyd Cramer are the 2003 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the sidemen category.
Douglas, who died in 1993, was a member of the Los Angeles-based “Wrecking Crew” group of studio musicians that played on hundreds of hits by artists including Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, the Beach Boys, Sam Cooke and John Lennon.
Ostin oversaw the careers of such Warner Bros. acts as Jimi Hendrix and Frank Sinatra.

The Vallejo Municipal Band was made up of mostly World War Two veterans and we spent the first hour or two of rehearsals at the dimly lit bar in the Veterans Of Foreign Wars hall where I drank coke and they drank everything else.
I played bass violin in the Vallejo Junior Symphony as well as the school orchestra, and I played tuba in the Vallejo Municipal Band at age twelve.

The skills attained from nightclub experience and a friendship with fellow saxophonist Steve Douglas led Horn to Duane Eddy.Rock and Roll Hall inductee (1994) Eddy, of Peter Gunn fame, was the '50s and '60s twang guitarist whose distinct sound produced scores of hits such as the 1958 smash Rebel Rouser.
In September of 1997, Jim was a part of the massive Garth Brooks in Central Park HBO special, seen by millions around the world, during which he was featured soloing with Garth and Billy Joel on New York State Of Mind.
Jim, by this time, was one of the hottest reed men on either coast.
