Topic: Steve Harris (musician)

Steve Harris (musician) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Steve Harris is Maiden's principal composer and lyricist.
Steve Harris has been Iron Maiden's principal keyboardist (other than at live shows and on a few songs where the work has been done by Michael Kenney) since keyboards were first used by the band on the album Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.
Given that Harris had been the centre of attention in Maiden's early gigs the addition of Bruce Dickinson to the band's line-up originally caused small scuffles between the two as they both wanted to be at the centre of the stage.

Steve Turre: One4J: Paying Homage to J.J. Johnson - PopMatters Music Review
Steve Turre (without the conch-shells he is elsewhere known for) pays amazing tribute to J.J. Johnson musically and in print in his new Telarc CD.
Johnson was just so very considerable a musician he had other options when fickle fashion restricted his proper career.
It's best, perhaps, if the homage is rendered by someone whose homage matters, or is visibly and really making an effort; and accorded to someone not dead, and this is really the point of this CD, which is a recording of a complex act of homage, an act made by playing Johnson's music.

The Rock Radio: Iron Maiden biography
However, Steve's unparalleled determination to succeed and passion for rock music managed to keep the band alive until the punk era began to fade in the late 70's.
Propelled by Steve Harris' ingenious songwriting and galloping bass, Clive Burr's thundering drums, Bruce Dickinson's operatic vocals and Dave Murray's and Adrian Smith's blistering guitars, world domination was inevitable.
Despite the fact that the album consisted of some powerful Bailey vocals, it was much criticized for its dark and melancholic songs, reflecting the fact that principal songwriter Steve Harris was going through personal problems with the breakup of his marriage and death of his father.
