Jones soon assembled a group consisting of ex-King Crimson sax player Ian McDonald and ex-Ian Hunter drummer Dennis Elliot (both of whom were British), along with New York musicians Al Greenwood (keyboards), Ed Gagliardi (bass), and Lou Gramm (vocals), the latter of which was previously a member of an obscure '70s outfit called Black Sheep.
Jones found immediate songwriting chemistry with Gramm (one of the first songs they wrote together was the eventual hit "Cold As Ice"), resulting in the newly formed band taking the name Foreigner and signing a recording contract with Atlantic Records.
When Steve Marriott left the Small Faces in 1969, the three remaining members brought in guitarist Ron Wood and lead singer Rod Stewart to complete the lineup and changed their name to the Faces, which was only appropriate since the group now only slightly resembled the mod-pop group of the past.

Steve is still working hard with Billy Idol on material for the new CD and already they have a great collection of songs ready, although there is no release date yet.
Steve, Billy and the band were all in excellent form and we had the extra treat of another new song ~ Lost in LA. (Very appropriate for some us getting home on New Years Eve) As well as Man in a Killbox.
Steve is very impressed with the new shape and material of the picks, as he says he is able to find a certain midway pitch that he wasnt able to before.

Steve Jones, the Sex Pistol, was lying prone when the call came that would change his career and propel him to the status of Los Angeles' most-talked-about radio DJ.
Back in December 1976, it was Jones who shot the Pistols on to the front pages of the tabloids and had truck drivers kicking in their television screens when he called Bill Grundy "a dirty fucking rotter" live on his teatime show, Today.
With his drumming mate Paul Cook, Jones was the backbone of the Pistols, inventing the name (QT Jones and The Sex Pistols) and providing their distinctive guitar sound, one that has rarely been bettered.

Motörhead wasn't punk rock -- they formed before the Sex Pistols and they loved the hell-for-leather imagery of bikers too much to conform with the safety-pinned, ripped T-shirts of punk -- but they were the first metal band to harness that energy and, in the process, they created speed metal and thrash metal.

In the Winter issue of 1990 Steve Jones took the opportunity to address the issue of censorship in rock music in a special editorial.
Any medium whose credo is "Turn it up!" will have a hard time of it in the 1990s, it seems, and rock 'n' roll, in particular, is based on the idea that the loudest voice prevails.
It'll be interesting to see just how loud or silent the voice of rock 'n' roll is on these issues.

For some reason the family passed the torch to me, and by the time I was 7 I was doing a one kid variety show for Lion's Clubs, VFW's, Rotary Clubs, local talent shows, school carnivals, and anywhere else my mom could book me. I was a ventriloquist, musician, magician, clown, and actor.
At about the same time I joined Savvy, I was hired to do personal appearances in the N. Texas area as Ronald McDonald.
This was about as crazy a life as anyone could ever imagine - playing in a successful popular rock band at night - and doing Ronald McDonald shows by day.
