Dallas Music Guide - Andy Timmons interview (page 1)
Andy Timmons: Steve and I met in 1988.
No doubt one of the busiest musicians in the area, Andy Timmons has built himself quite an impressive resume with his early work in the pop-metal band Danger Danger to diverse sessions with the likes of LeeAnn Rimes, Paula Abdul, and Olivia Newton-John.
He’s played on countless songs as a studio musician as well, but his real love is with his solo instrumental albums, one of which was just released on Steve Vai’s Favored Nations label.

ANDY TIMMONS - guitar instrumental rock - technically tight tunes - "EER-MUSIC.com aka Eclectic Earwig Reviews Music and More for You!"
Timmons demonstrates his diversity in style and mastery of different techniques in the finger-picking, country jamboree extravaganza, "Farmer Sez" that is reminiscent of Steve Morse's better works of this nature, as well as Morse's coverage of diverse styles.
Timmons is a player that bears the listeners' enjoyment of the music in mind, though he probably derives pleasure from his sophisticated and well-fealt playing, as well.
Andy Timmons strikes me as the type of guitarist that one desiring to lay back and relax might want to find playing out in a nightclub on a weekend night, if that one might be so lucky to find somebody this talented playing at a local club.

Andy Timmons rock interview at Access Rock
Andy: It's pretty unheard of..and hats off to Steve Vai for approaching it in that way having been through everything he's been through in his career and having seen all of the things that I have seen.
Andy: A little bit, yah, which was a bit of culture shock for me. The whole time I was growing up playing guitar and through school, it was always about being a great musician.
Andy: I ended up, after leaving the University of Miami..about August of '85, hooking up with a couple of players that had gone to North Texas University, which is just North of Denton.

The Ultimate Guitar Resource For Guitarists - Guitar.com
The play by play of how guitarist Andy Timmons born and raised in a small town in Indiana, one-time MTV hero of the early-90s hair-metal scene, more recent sideman to Olivia Newton-John and LeAnn Rimes found his way to shredder heaven on Steve Vais Favored Nations label is certainly an interesting tale.
Timmons, schooled in be-bop jazz and a dabbler in many musical styles, has just released his Favored Nations debut, and it rips.
Timmons: My main guitar since 94 has been a custom Ibanez, which eventually was released as a signature model in Japan and Europe.

From the amorphous textures of Explorations In Space to the tugging sequencer patterns of the title track, sounds and forms shift and morph through each other, gradually revealing broad chordal structures, gentle pulses, and the interlocking patterns that have long been the hallmark of space music.
