Steven Siro Vai was born June 6, 1960 at Nassau County Hospital in New York, the fourth of five children born to John and Theresa Vai.
Vai's transcriptionist talents were also obvious to Frank, and an invitation to try out for Frank's band was extended.
Steve moved to Los Angeles the next year and at 19 years of age became the youngest musician ever to join the Zappa ranks.Steve toured and recorded with Frank Zappa from 1980 through 1983, and achieved a number of milestones while with Zappa.

Vai then formed his own band "Vai" for "Sex and Religion" which kind of misfired, but luckily he got back to being himself with Alien Love Secrets.

In the time since his brief stint with Whitesnake, Vai did begin to focus on recording solo material, and while his music as a solo artist is considerably better than his work with various bands, it's still a bit of a mixed bag.
Epic has done their part to introduce more people to Vai's solo output with The Infinite Steve Vai: An Anthology, and while it does showcase Vai's supreme talents as a shredder extraordinaire, as well as an often clever composer, this two-disc set does prove to be a bit too exhausting.

The second half of the album has Vai singing, and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised by it.
I must say Vai is an impressive showman, and no CD can capture his band, and this is probably as close as it'll ever get.

I am truly a Vai fan and have been hooked since hearing his Fire Garden album and then seeing him in concert back in 1996 when I lived in the Washington D.C. area.
But, any Vai fan will love this sheet music as I think it does a good job of guitar tab transcriptions.
Vai is truly supernatural in his ability, and the way in which he applies this ability on this record is masterful.
