		Whitmire was one of the core Muppet performers since performing on The Muppet Show, and he started having his own major characters on Fraggle Rock, where he performed Sprocket and Wembley Fraggle.
		Whitmire also puppeteered for the 1986 Henson film Labyrinth, and performed in the 1986 television special The Christmas Toy, once again voicing a character as the performer of Mew.

		This was a demonstration of how the Muppet people play tricks on each other - Steve W. is playing the part of a Hollywood big shot, and Jerry Nelson and Dave Goelz were showing how they mess up Brian Henson in important meetings by making faces at him behind the big shot's back.
		Dave Goelz was screamingly (is that a verb?) hilarious when he and Whitmire did a CG Muppet demonstration, which was technically interesting as well as hysterically funny.

		The plot is set in motion when typically evil banker Rachel Bitterman (Joan Cusack) forecloses on the Muppets' famous variety theater, with the intention of building a gaudy nightclub.
		But Bitterman's machinations take a back seat when apprentice guardian angel, Daniel (David Arquette), shows Kermit (voiced by Steve Whitmire) what conditions would have been had Kermit never existed.
		Without going into full detail, suffice to say that a Kermit-less world would have found Miss Piggy (voiced by Frank Oz) running a fraudulent psychic hot line, Fozzie Bear as a homeless derelict, and Sam the Eagle as a caged dancer at a rave.

		It was nice to have Kermit on "Sesame" again, and nice for me to see Steve, who is such a terrific guy, again, for the first time in a couple of years.
