Theology Today - Vol 50, No.4 - January 1993 - ARTICLE - Humble Dominion
If the Old Testament view of human dominion is best understood through the metaphor of "stewardship," as I have suggested above, then the Gospel stories of Jesus' teachings and the Epistles' christological claims about him would seem to broaden (and even radicalize) that metaphor in markedly nonimperious directions.
After all, they have been declared "good" by God in the creation myths, they have been identified as subjects of divine providence, and in Pauline theology they are, with humanity, subjects of the divine economy of salvation.

 Direction: Rethinking Dominion Theology
There is much to be said for the stewardship interpretation of dominion theology, an understanding of dominion theology certainly closer to the biblical point of view than interpretations that see biblical dominion in Gen. 1:28 as unrestrained and exploitative.
In the second place, views of dominion in Gen. 1:28 are usually discussed in relative isolation from the ancient social context of Genesis 1 and from its larger canonical context in the Bible as a whole, both contexts that have much to add to our understanding of dominion theology in biblical thought.
Helpful perspectives on the theology of dominion in Gen. 1:28 are provided by examining this verse within three of its contexts: the text in which it occurs, the social world of the text, and the canonical setting of the text, that is, its place within the Bible as a whole.

Seventh-Day Adventists and The Salvation Army join for second series of discussions
The Salvationist paper on mission indicated that Wesleyan Methodist practice and theology are the foundation for Army mission while the Seventh-Day Adventist paper developed the thesis that Adventist success in mission was inextricably linked with eschatology, stewardship and church structure.
At the dialogue, Salvationists and Seventh-Day Adventists presented three sets of companion papers on education, the theology of the Church and the sacraments, and missiology.
Discussions confirmed that Salvationists and Adventists are Bible-centred in their preaching and theology and Christ-centred in their mission.

[255] The Cornwall Declaration on Environmental Stewardship, a joint declaration of Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant authorities, urges “the stewardship of human and ecological relationships” according to “sound theology and the careful use of scientific methods.”[256] Shakespeare’s Prince of Denmark synthesized these precepts in memorable fashion:
Hill,[137] one of the earliest and most prominent cases interpreting the ESA, the Supreme Court acknowledged how a proposed dam on the Tellico River would threaten every aspect of the endangered snail darter’s existence by disrupting the aeration of the river, eliminating the fish’s breeding opportunities, and exterminating snails, the darter’s primary diet.
Rather, I wish merely to observe, at least from a casual, non-expert’s perspective, that mass extinction events tend to have generally resulted from extraterrestrial causes, or at least abiotic terrestrial phenomena such as mass volcanism[73] or sea-level change.

Master of Arts in Servant Leadership at Viterbo University
At the heart of a Franciscan Theology of Environment is the notion of ecological stewardship—a responsibility and opportunity to embrace the cosmic earth story with an attitude of care for the planetary household of God.
By examining the foundations of servant leadership in scripture, theology, and the experience of the people of God, participants may begin to identify and understand their own ways of leading and the gifts and skills that they bring to leadership for the common good so that they may set goals for developing them.
Servant leaders, if they are to be truly effective in helping others grow, need to keep growing spiritually themselves.

It is the theology of stewardship and institutional authority that explains why Cody Judy doesn’t present a major theological crisis to most of us.
The Church as an institution may have evolved in a variety of ways, surely for the better, but it doesn’t follow that our 21st Century prophets, as individuals, are qualitatively superior to their 19th Century forbearers in their abilities to access and properly interpret divine communications (of whatever sort).
Finally, because the institution is lay, it puts people in a position where they ‘have to’ learn prophecy and revelatory gifts.

And the pastor of two fast-growing United Methodist churches both praised the North Texas Annual Conference meeting in its Annual Conference, June 4-7, for its success ("awesome, impressive") and preached the kind of stewardship sermon that might have launched another campaign right on the spot.
Caldwell, known for his success in the financial world before entering the ministry, said people in the New Economy "do not hear what we say but what we do." He commended the North Texas conference for its plans to use the $12.5 million "so people can see the Gospel in action."

Sigurd F. Olson Web Site: Olson's Wilderness Theology
While he often spoke of stewardship, a concept that is based in love yet implies human domination over the rest of nature, his essential philosophy went deeper: "What civilization needs today," he wrote, "is a culture of sensitivity and tolerance and an abiding love of all creatures including mankind."
If the whole of earth and the universe beyond is an extension of God, then humans are obliged to love all life, human and nonhuman, because all life is intertwined in the cosmic adventure.
In wilderness we could rediscover the timeless, creative force of the universe, regain a sense of being part of that force, and, in so doing, glimpse "the land beyond the rim." With such an experience, it would be impossible to maintain a purely anthropocentric world view.
