In 1934 it became the group known as Steyr Daimler Puch.
Steyr Puch still exists next to the Piaggio division, which took over production of mopeds labeled Puch in 1997.
Puch (sounds like spook) is an Austrian small-engine motorcycle company that existed from 1903 until 1987, when it was bought out by Piaggio, maker of the Vespa.

The conglomerate was broken up in 1990, with Steyr Tractor being sold to Case Corporation, Puch's motorcycle division going to Piaggio, Steyr Mannlicher producing weapons, and Steyr's automobile production combined with Magna as Magna Steyr.
The company was founded as Josef und Franz Werndl and Company in 1864 as a rifle manufacturer, but became known as Steyr-Werke AG in 1924.

Steyr is in trouble, considering a merger with Daimler Benz.
Porsche builds lot's of fast cars for Daimler Benz, but the Daimler board was opposed to small cars, so he left for a brief tenure with Steyr in 1928 (you see the pattern) filling the chief designer role just exited by Ledwinka.
Steyr finally collapsed, triggering the 1934 merger with AD/Puch.

There's probably a good reason for manufacturing the bolt the way Steyr does, but I've not been able to figure it out.

In fact the marketing of Puch G-Wagens in the UK was a breach of the initial agreements, although these became obsolete in the spring of 1981, when the relationship between the two partners was reorganised.
The first model —in solid wood- was prepared by SDP in April 1973 and the first metal prototype in 1974, although I resist in believing that any of these posed any resemblance to the final G-Wagen.
SDP produced the Haflinger, one of the most capable light cross-country vehicles ever made in its factory of Graz, Austria.

Steyr, Puch, and Austro-Daimler all were brand names used by the huge manufacturing conglomerate, Steyr-Daimler-Puch, of Graz, Austria.
Austro Daimler(s) that have the PUCH headbadge are of vintage, 1984 or later.
He was empolyed at Puch from 1964 till 1988 and he gave me the original Puch RR Sales Brochures from the Year 1979 till 1986.

While the Haflinger did it’s duty in the area it was designed for and is still in use in a small number in the Swiss army (as of 2003) several of the customers of Steyr-Daimler-Puch showed a demand for a vehicle with higher payload capacity and area.
Due to the request of the customers for an even larger vehicle with a more economic Diesel engine SDP upgraded the Pinzgauer models with a modern water-cooled turbo Diesel engine they got from Volkswagen and modified it for their needs.
While the Haflinger had a rear engine reducing the accessibility of the bed area the engine for the Pinzgauer was moved forward into the cab.

Formed in 1934 as a result of the amagamation of Steyr Engineering, Austro-Daimler, and Johann Puch's two-wheeler business, which was already established as one of Europe's best with its bicycles and motorcycle products.
Johann Puch had left his Yugoslavian homeland just before the turn of the century to seek his fortune in Austria where, with its close links with Germany, the future of two-wheeled transport was becoming well established.
It was a pleasure to be involved in selling Puchs and the service from their UK headquarters at 211 Lower Parliament St, Nottingham (the same premises now occupied by Machine Mart) was second to none.
