Stiff Little Fingers -- Jake Burns (lead guitar and acidic vocals), Ali McMordie (bass), Henry Cluney (rhythm guitar) and Brian Faloon (drums) -- formed in the winter of 1977 in Belfast after the excitement of London’s punk rock explosion reached their ears.
Expecting Stiff Little Fingers’ west coast tour to be like everybody else (i.e., skipping San Diego) I bought tickets for the LA show at the New Florentine Gardens as soon as they went on sale.
Both the Undertones and Stiff Little Fingers have been written of almost in the past tense of late by the British press because current fads have passed them by and today’s darlings are the New Romantic bands.

Not only do none of those reasons apply to SLF, but there are at least 14 reasons why this band should, in the words of Bob Dylan, keep on keepin’ on.
That is because every song on their May 2004 release “Guitar and Drum” is worth listening to, not that you’ll listen to an album like this only once.
SLF teeters on the edge of this but never falls victim to it on the track “Can’t Get Away With That,” a playful tune that never strays too far from the point.

To single out one particular group is incinuating that SLF had a political grievance with just that one group, which is untrue, and potentially dangerous for a band in their position.
Little bit scared that the punks in Europe are using SLF as a voice - I hope they stick to the gigs and never use the bullets.
as a veteran of many fingers gigs i reckon the line up now is the best ever, a group who are still in touch with their fans and appreciate they would be nothing without them.

A little more than a year ago, as Jake Burns slept off the results of a US tour-closing party with his bandmates in Stiff Little Fingers, the phone in his hotel room rang.
Stiff Little Fingers will come to to the US for a quick six-date tour and play the Paradise on Feb. 8.

Prior to becoming Stiff Little Fingers, Jake Burns, vocals and guitar, Henry Cluney, guitar, Gordon Blair, bass, and Brian Falloon, drums, were playing in a rock music cover band, Highway Star, in Belfast.
The single was packaged in the form of a cassette, with a cover depicting a cassette bomb, apparently causing great hilarity in the group, when one record company phoned them and asked for another copy, as they'd thrown the first one in a bucket of water for fear that it was a real bomb.
There were a number of well-publicised arguments between the two bands; the Undertones accused Stiff Little Fingers of sensationalising the Northern Ireland conflict, while they retorted that The Undertones ignored it.
