Passion: Music for The Last Temptation of Christ - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Passion: Music for The Last Temptation of Christ is a musical album produced in 1989 by Peter Gabriel.
It was originally composed as the soundtrack for the film The Last Temptation of Christ, but Gabriel spent several months after the film's release further developing the music, finally releasing it as a full-fledged album instead of a "movie soundtrack".
Amazon.com promotes the album by noting its influence on the popularization of world music by stating: "To call Passion a pivotal recording in the development of world music would be a significant understatement."

It's too bad that the soundtrack for the much-delayed supernatural religious horror film Stigmata [+] opens with an industrial-metal remix of Chumbawamba's "Mary Mary," since it gives the misleading impression that the record will be a dark, gloomy noise-fest.
Well, the album may be dark and gloomy, but it's not always noisy -- at it's best, it's eerily evocative.
And it's at its best on the second half of the album, which is devoted to Billy Corgan [+] and Mike Garson [+]'s rich, disquieting score.

The album is launched on the 23rd August at My Kind of Place Taj Samudra, Kandy's Grunge powerhouse foursome 'Paranoid Earthling' will be opening the show, where afterwards the Metal maestros themselves would unleash the theatrics in the album - live on stage.
The album's fierce opener Thicker than blood, (which the fans heard through their EP, and also in the soundtrack of the drama titled same) quickly grabs the listener with its brutal guitars and deep lyrical content.
When a band had been unleashing one incredible slab of metal after another at their colossally energetic gigs, as Stigmata has been doing, the pressure to maintain the heaviness on tape is immense.

With the 1998 "Adore" album, the band retooled its sound to compensate for the absence of Chamberlin's walloping backbeat, veering away from its battle-tested guitar attack toward keyboard-soaked atmospherics.
The still-untitled album is slated for a February release.
Natalie Imbruglia and David Bowie have also contributed new material to the "Stigmata" album, with Imbruglia singing vocals on "identify," the first single from the album, and a track specifically written for the film.

There is one album that stands on its own; I'm referring to the somewhat estranged "Stigmata" album.
This is also one of my favourite Death Metal albums in recent years because I've always been fascinated by the Amott brothers and this album particularly shows how well they work together as a guitar duo.
"Stigmata" is a very underrated album for reasons that are unknown to me, maybe fans didn't like to see them going into a over-the-top technical direction.

The forthcoming album is the follow-up to her 1996 double platinum album, "One In A Million," which is due out by summer or fall.
The long-awaited new album by Nine Inch Nails may still not have a firm release date ("sometime in 1999" is all that Interscope Records is saying at the moment) or even a definite title (the most recently aired contender is The Fragile, but that's said to be tentative).
Attesting to the long layoff between albums, broken only by the inclusion of the new NIN song "The Perfect Drug" on the 1997 Lost Highway soundtrack, Clouser said it is simply a matter of how the band creates its lush electronic symphonies.

Quite frankly this is more like a compilation album than a live album and without the cheers between songs and the occasional incomprehensible statement from John Tardy it would be easy to forget the fact that it is a live recording.
This is an album dripping with emotion: love for ones homeland, anger and sadness at the marginalisation of ones culture, and, of course, the fun to be had from a good hard mosh.
I had two main problems with this album on the first few listens: firstly, I didn't like some of the slower ones too much, because their vibe is so much more relaxed and lazy than the rest of the album, which I didn't expect.

Right away this album just gets down to being heavy as it just rips into you right away with The Immortal, and from there it doesn't stop until the final note of Burning Bridges.
The only real departure in style on this album is the final song, Burning Bridges, which is actually rather slow and somewhat depressing, although still a great song.
This is a definite improvement from Stigmata as the songs are shorter and more intense, but still possess enough technical flair to them to prevent boredom.

Now I never heard the previous album, but from the sounds of it Lucas represents a considerable improvement on his predecessor — whilst he’s not the strongest vocalist in the world, and has a pronounced accent, his voice is nonetheless pleasant and perfectly serviceable for the material.
Acoustic guitar and mellifluous flute with vocals that sound somewhat warmer than on other places on the album, the two songs are elegant in their simplicity and deserve more recognition than being tacked unheralded onto the end of the album.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Lace
Daniel Rock has pointed out that the long strips of lacis and linen lace of early work, now sometimes found, were covers for the lectern; and this is confirmed by the fact that the figure subjects are usually worked across the width of the piece, as in a remarkable piece dating from the fifteenth century.
This is a strip of tela tirata, six feet by twelve and one-half inches, probably worked by the nuns at Assisi as a lectern cover, and representing, among other sacred subjects, St. Francis receiving the Stigmata.
Existing records as early as the twelfth century mention "worked albs" belonging to the Abbey of St. Albans, and in an inventory of 1466 of St. Stephen's, London, we read of "worked altar cloths and towels" and some with three "rayes" at each end.

Stigmata - Music from the Movies
While Stigmata is more talked about as the film with music by Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins fame (the guy who also wrote the industrial rock music for parts of Ransom), it is in fact Elia Cmiral who has written the more eerie and disturbing parts of the soundtrack.
We have the electroninc sound design and pounding percussion loops, in conjunction with ethnical colourings (Ney flute is often used as a sound effect and as a solo instrument for the melodic parts), female solo voices and traditional orchestra.
The difference between Stigmata and Ronin is that the latter had a strong theme, while the first-mentioned is based more on sound design and atmosphere.

There are many bands on the metal scene today that have changed genres from album to album or, at times, even within a given release.
The album begins with the raging thrash maelstrom, "The Immortal," as Enemy warms up their speed chops and sinister stylings.
The shred-fest is finally brought to a halt by the slow, grinding guitars and pounding drums of the title track, which eventually fade into a piece of satanic chamber music that concludes the album.

Anybody who buys this album ought to be ordered to stand in a corner.
For Stigmata, he's created a haunting, anxious soundscape that is often far more adventurous than anything he's done with the Pumpkins.
Anyway, the six pop songs that start the album are almost beside the point, because it's the intricate instrumentals that make the record so resonant, transcending the five-minute pop format and giving the whole thing its epic, cinematic sweep.
