Stirchley is located on the Pershore Road along a main route in and out of Birmingham city.
Stirchley gives the appearance of being pretty run down but it is an established area of Birmingham city.
Traffic congestion can get quite bad here as the streets are heavily fortified with pedestrian crossings, roundabouts and heavy vehicles which park in the most annoying places as they go about their deliveries.

Stirchley was within the royal forest of Mount Gilbert until 1301 (fn.
The wood of Stirchley, which survived in the early and mid 13th century, lay in the north-east along the boundary with Shifnal.
 Stirchley remained an agricultural community until the beginning of the 19th century when coal and ironstone mining, iron founding, and brick making were started in the northwest quarter of the parish within reach of the Shropshire Canal.

 Stirchley was formerly a farming parish with an industrial belt along the north-west edge, but in the 1970s it was transformed by the building of houses as part of Telford new town.
Stirchley is underlain by the Coalport Beds of the Upper Coal Measures, on which the extensive drift cover of boulder clay gives rise to a heavy soil, which favoured a pastoral economy and the retention of much permanent grassland until the 19th century.
 Stirchley village lay at the hub of a radial pattern of roads, lanes, and paths, linking the outlying farms to the village or giving access to distant fields.

Proposed revision to the boundary of Stirchley Local Centre - yellow (additional land to be taken into the local centre) to be added to blue (retail 'core').
In 1994 when the Stirchley Framework was adopted it was considered that Stirchley could not sustain retail activity in the whole of the local centre and the retail core was designated at the Hazelwell Street end of Stirchley near to the Co-op Superstore.
At the same time, there is enthusiasm for major planning gain to be brought to the Stirchley centre but recognition that this would not be necessary if public capital were to be made available at a level that could permit genuine partnership with commercial development rather than being subservient to it.

 Stirchley Badminton Club
Welcome to the home page for Stirchley Badminton Club (Stirchley in Telford, that is, not to be confused with Stirchley in Birmingham, or any other places named Stirchley there may be in the UK or elsewhere!).
The club plays at Stirchley Recreation Centre between 7:30pm and 10:30pm on a Monday (followed by the statutory trip to the pub - currently the nearby Rose and Crown - of course!).
For those who don't know where Stirchley Recreation Centre is, come south, from the town centre, on the Eastern Primary (the A442, marked as "Queensway" on the map below).

After the marriage they went to live at 41 Stirchley St, Stirchley, Worcestershire which is now a Birmingham suburb.
Stirchley Street was later re-named Pershore Road and it is possible that the house still stands to this day.
It is probably in the 1500 to 1620 number range between Mary Vale Road and the junction of Fordhouse Lane.

The next qualifying tournament will be on 16th July at Lakeside Superbowl in Stirchley.

As Stirchley is centrally located (just south of Birmingham) and there is likely to be several bowlers travelling up from the London area, we are forming a “Maccabi Travel Club”, so that we don’t end up taking more cars than we need.

I agree with the Council’s recommendations regarding these offices although I would suggest that a more sustainable alternative to keeping both Stirchley and Ten Acres would be a new outlet in the proposed retail development in the Hazelwell area of Stirchley.
In the short-term, Stirchley, at least, should be retained.
As regards the Bournville office, consideration should be given to retention/co-location with another business on the basis of potential for expansion into new services particularly due the potential customers from workers at the nearby Cadbury factory and other businesses.

The TOPIC of our June forum meeting on June 11th was PUBLIC HEALTH, we had a guest speaker Caroline Stewart from the public health department to answer some of your questions and to give us an insight into her role as District Services Area Manager, Regulatory Services.
Councillor Tim Huxtable who has represented Bournville Ward on the City Council for the last five years is re-elected and keeps his seat, which includes Stirchley.
