Hallmarks of Homebuilding - Lou Stolp's Idea: The One-Stop Shop |
 | | In 1966, Lou Stolp of Corona, California, came up with a new design, the Stolp Starduster Too, which was a homebuilt two-place biplane based on his previous design, the single-place Starduster. |
 | | Stolp's basic idea was to provide a plane with good performance, retaining good flight characteristics for the average airman and homebuilder. |
 | | Second, and what EAA determined as the Homebuilding Hallmark, Stolp Starduster Too buyers received not only a set of plans, but they could also obtain the materials needed to build it directly through the Stolp Aircraft Corp. The era of one-stop shopping, and the predecessor to full-blown homebuilts airplane kits, was born. |
