During (New Year's Eve in Scotland) Hogmanay festivities, the (Street that serves as a principal thoroughfare for traffic in a town) High Street comes alive with crowds watching the annual fireballs ceremony, in which volunteers walking down the High Street swing huge balls of fire around and around at the ends of chains.
Stonehaven has grown rapidly since the (A slippery or viscous liquid or liquefiable substance not miscible with water) oil boom in Aberdeen.

While people have lived on Scotland’s east coast for millennia and may have used the bay at Stonehaven or the promontory on which Dunnottar Castle now lies from as early as the Mesolithic period, little has survived as testament of early settlement.
