Stool Acidity Test - Digestion and digestive-related information on MedicineNet.com
The stool acidity test is a method of detecting lactose intolerance in children.
The large lactose doses that are used in the lactose tolerance and hydrogen breath tests may be dangerous because infants and children are more prone than adults to dehydration from the diarrhea sometimes caused by the lactose.
Thus, as mentioned, the stool acidity test is preferred in infants and younger children.

DNA stool test: New method to check for colon cancer - MayoClinic.com
DNA stool testing includes the possibility of false-negative results — results that indicate no cancer is present when it actually is. However, as researchers learn more about the types of DNA changes that are involved in colon cancer, this type of colon cancer screening may become more effective.
While a negative DNA stool test could mean you don't have colon cancer, it could also mean that you have DNA changes that haven't yet been attributed to colon cancer.
Studies found DNA stool test kits to be 62 percent to 97 percent effective in detecting cancers and 27 percent to 82 percent reliable in detecting large precancerous (adenomatous) polyps.
