Stormbringer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stormbringer is the name of the infamous sword featured in a number of fantasy stories by the author Michael Moorcock.
Stormbringer’s hunger for souls is such that it frequently betrays Elric, turning in his hands and killing friends and lovers, adding to Elric’s guilt and self-loathing even as he feels their lifeforce surging into himself.
Stormbringer has a ‘sister’ sword, named Mournblade, which was at one time wielded by Elric’s cousin and enemy Yyrkoon.

Frames Of Mind is the band's debut album which they have released on their own label rather than fish around for a label willing to take their sound as it is. And a very impressive debut it is too.
The first time that I heard the album in its entirety, it was a lot for me to take in (that's a pretty jam-packed cd you have!!) It was obvious to me from the start that you are very capable musicians, and that you are all well crafted in your instruments.
Around the beginning of August, I heard a song off of your album on WRFL, a college radio station here in Lexington, KY. I can't remember which song it was, but I was so blown away that I sat in my driveway and waited till the DJ announced the name of the group.

Stormbringer was the second and final album recorded by this version of the band (commonly referred to as the Mk III lineup).
Now that we've cleared that up, this album contains a recording of the Mk IV lineup (the one with Tommy Bolin) performing at California's Long Beach Arena in February 1976, along with two bonus tracks that were recorded in Springfield a month earlier.
The 2-CD set was intended as a special gift to their fans, and it's a fan's album if there ever was one (the CD booklet is full of fan-taken photos).

At only 6 tracks and a little over 33 minutes, the album is a little short, but it is a independent release which they probably had to pay out of their pockets for whatever they could afford to record.
And Being recorded at Iguana Studios, the album is rather well produced, and is much better quality then some other bands of their stature.
I personally found that the vocals are very well produced and are a constant on the album, which kind of ties everything else in with its immense power.

After the weird funky-sounding 'Stormbringer' album Deep Purple’s guitar player Ritchie Blackmore left the band in 1974 and proceeded in grabbing Purple’s opening band Elf (an American band that was noticed by Roger Glover, who also produced two of the band’s albums) in order to record a few songs Purple ruthlessly rejected.
Like on the previous album the jams are positively thrilling in most cases and it doesn’t get too tedious unless of course you have a bone against ultra-long (up to fifteen minutes) renditions of the normally subdued studio material.
Nice rock stompers they are, but the album really comes to life with the induction of “Gates Of Babylon”, an slashing Eastern-styled epic that works wonderfully as a fast string-driven boogie coupled with the menacing keyboard lines and Dio’s positively EVIL vocals.
