As the leaders of the two agencies most directly concerned with and responsible for aquaculture in Missouri, they recognized that the future of aquaculture in both the public and private sectors hinged upon their collective ability to resolve issues and select effective approaches that give due consideration to overall public needs and values.
The Missouri Aquaculture Advisory Council (MAAC) was formed in December 1981 in response to a cooperative agreement between the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Department of Agriculture and was charged with the development of an Aquaculture Plan for the State of Missouri.

In 1971 the family moved to Dixon where she was employed at the Missouri State School #74, for the handicapped, as a teacher’s aide, retiring in 1990 after 10 years of dedicated service.
