  Penny Alcohol Backpacking Stove
For years I have been developing a homemade ultralight backpacking stove that is lighter, heats faster, burns longer, uses less fuel, and is easier to use and build.
I made some modifications to the wood stove and incorporated the use of the penny stove into it as well, then field tested the units at elevations from 7,000 to 14,000+ feet.
The penny alcohol stove performed spectacularly on Mt. Whitney, but I tired to use the wood stove as much as possible to conserve the limited amount of fuel I had brought.

stove. The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition. 2001-05
The stove was long regarded as a cooking device supplementary to the fireplace, near which it stood; its stovepipe led into the fireplace chimney.
Early Swiss stoves of clay or brick, without chimneys, were built against the outer house wall, with an opening to the outside through which they were fueled and through which the smoke could escape.
The Franklin stove, invented in 1743 and used for heating, was the lineal descendant of the fireplace, being at first only a portable down-draft iron fireplace that could be set into, or before, the chimney.

Stove - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In industrial usage, stove may refer to the place where fuel is combusted before being fed to a large heat consumer such as an open hearth furnace.
An early, and famous, example of a metal stove is the Franklin stove, a wood burning stove said to have been invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1742.
Stoves (or ranges as they are also known) such as these are often used instead of boilers or furnaces to supply hot water and central heating to the rest of the house.

 BACKPACKING STOVE - HOMEMADE
The stove was designed to hold no more than 1/4 cup fuel which should be more than enough to boil water and cook food on any backpacking trip.
Third Stove Test: Retested home-made stove; waited until the water boiled and noted time, removed the pot (leaving burner going) and then refilled the pot with cool water, placed the new pot of room temperature water on the burner, and brought the water to a boil a second time and noted this boil time.
When a stove is used in camp, it is cold on the first time using it so using the home-made stove is a very good alternative to the Mini-Trangia 28 if only one pot of water is going to be boiled at that particular meal.

David Stove - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stove was a great admirer of David Hume but thought that this argument (which some contemporary Hume scholars would hesitate to attribute to Hume) was not only fallacious but harmful in its effects, and that in fact it was one of the causes (though not the only one) of the "modern nervousness".
Stove argued that it is a statistical truth that the great majority of the possible subsets of specified size (as long as this size is not too small) are similar to the larger population to which they belong.
Stove also claimed that the simple Malthusian view of population that many Darwinists accept is not true of humans - humans do not continue expanding in population until they have eaten up all of their food supplies which then results in massive deaths from starvation.

 Eritrea Stove Efficiency Improvement Proposal
The stove design and construction techniques are not widely known, and only a very few local ceramic shops are able to provide the ceramic fuel grates that are an integral part of the improved designs.
By demonstrating the use and efficiency of improved efficiency stoves, and by providing a subsidy for the poorest households, it should be possible to surmount this barrier.
The annual biomass savings from of moving to high efficiency stoves for this number of households is estimated to be from 150,000 to 300,000 tonnes of avoided biomass consumption per year.

 Pellet Stoves
The economy of pellets is due to the low cost of the materials and the efficiency of the manufacturing processes, as well as the ability for people to lock in an entire year of fuel costs before the beginning of the heating season.
Pellet stoves are efficient home heaters thanks to state-of-the-art technology that helps control the fuel-to-air ratio within the stove and ensures almost complete combustion of the fuel.
Once the stove is operating, an automated feed system delivers the wood pellets into a burn chamber within the stove where combustion air is forced through the fire creating a mini furnace.

 NASD: Home Heating with Wood
Remember, wood stoves that are not airtight or that are inserted in a fireplace will not provide as much useful heat as an airtight stove placed where it can radiate or circulate heat in all directions.
Heat distribution from wood stoves can be improved in some houses by operating the fan on the main heating unit, such as a heat pump, when the wood stove is being used.
When selecting a stove, also weigh the improved efficiency, and thereby lower wood requirement, of the airtight stove versus the nonairtight, which is lower priced.
