In September 2005, Strabane Concert Brass were invited by Archdeacon David Pierpoint to play a prestigious concert in the beautiful historic setting of Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin.
Strabane Concert Brass was formed in 1979 by Harry Gault having been known previously as Tyrone Youth Band(TYB), which was part of the Western Education and Library Board Music Service.
The community knows that in Strabane Concert Brass they have a band to be proud of - a band who have represented their town with distinction both at home and overseas.

Strabane Poor Law Union was formally declared on the 8th April 1839 and covered an area of 209 square miles.
The new Strabane Union workhouse was originally planned to be built at Magirr in the Bridge Street area of the town, on land owned by the Marquis of Abercorn.
The fever hospital became a district hospital in 1922 and was later Strabane Hospital.

The area was inhabited as long ago as the Neolithic period, and the surrounding district is famous for its ancient portal tombs and standing stones – in fact, there’s a standing stone right in the middle of the town itself, dating from 2500BC.
