In September 2005, Strabane Concert Brass were invited by Archdeacon David Pierpoint to play a prestigious concert in the beautiful historic setting of Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin.
Strabane Concert Brass was formed in 1979 by Harry Gault having been known previously as Tyrone Youth Band(TYB), which was part of the Western Education and Library Board Music Service.
The community knows that in Strabane Concert Brass they have a band to be proud of - a band who have represented their town with distinction both at home and overseas.

Strabane (Irish, an Srath Bán, the White Strand) is a town in the west of County Tyrone in Northern Ireland, on the border with County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland.
Strabane was badly scarred by the Troubles, beginning in the early 1970s and continuing throughout much of the 1990s, with bombings commonplace and Irish Republican paramilitary groups, mainly the Provisional Irish Republican Army (Provisional IRA), regularly attacking the bases of both the British Army and the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) located in the town.
Strabane is twinned with Sioux Falls in South Dakota, USA, and with Zeulenroda in the District of Thuringia, Germany.

Strabane District Council is calling on all dog owners to make sure they know about their dogs’ whereabouts and that they are kept properly secured and under control at all times.
This warning comes in the wake of three very serious sheep worrying incidents throughout the district in recent weeks, where local farmers have lost twelve sheep and lambs between them as a result of attacks by dogs.
The Council is currently investigating several cases of sheep attacks and prosecution shall be recommended against any person found to be negligent.

 RTÉ News: Probe begins into Strabane illegal dumping
An investigation has begun between a number of County Councils in the South East and at least one District Council in Northern Ireland in relation to illegal dumping in the North of waste produced in the South East.
Strabane District Council has been in touch with Wexford County Council and others following reports that around 100 tons of commercial and domestic waste was dumped illegally at a site near Strabane in the past week.
The council is investigating reports that some of the waste was brought by lorry from the Gorey/Enniscorthy area, 200 miles from where it was dumped.
