The Strahov Stadium ("Strahovský stadion" in Czech) is a stadium in the Strahov district of Prague, Czech Republic.
Construction began on a wooden stadium in 1926, and was replaced by cement grandstands in 1932.
Contemporary the stadium serves to Sparta Prague as a training centrum with 8 football pitches (6 pitches of standard sizes and 2 futsal pitches).

Strahov was first built for mass gymnastic displays.
I believe the "official" records for highest attendance go to the Maracana in Rio for the 1950 WC and a match at Hampden Park (it used to be big) back in the 1930's (Scotland vs. England?).

The Strahov Stadium in Prag used to be one of the biggest stadiums in the world with space for 50'000 spectators, especially built for the folk-sport "spartakiade" (a type of gymnastics for young and old, performed in bigger groups).
In the 90ies the city council let the stadium renovate and now there's space for 20'000 spectators.
The stadium is used for different happenings (source) - but it is still too large for a lot of activities (source).

The negotiation about the Strahov stadium is finished.
Since there will be so many people coming, we are relying on that as many people as possible sort out their own accommodation either with friends or at hostels.
