Straight Plan for the Gay Man - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Straight Plan for the Gay Man is an American television program airing on cable network Comedy Central.
It is a spoof of Bravo's hit Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, which has the opposite premise; four straight comedians: Curtis Gwinn (environment guy), Billy Merritt (appearance guy), Kyle Grooms (information guy) and Rob Riggle (culture guy) (dubbed the "Flab Four") makeover a gay man to pass as straight.
The make-overs include lessons in poor manners, spartan home decorating, unfashionable wardrobes, and an overdeveloped ego to mask all personal failings.

Queer Eye for the Straight Guy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is an hour-long American television series that premiered on the Bravo cable television network on July 15, 2003, and promptly became both a surprise hit (at least by the standards of cable TV) and one of the most talked-about television programs of 2003.
Its sympathetic representation of openly gay men won acclaim from both straight and gay viewers.
In Australia, the soundtrack was released for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and the popularity of the show in Australia led to the soundtrack reaching the top 10 of the Australian album chart as at March 8, 2004.

Enter Comedy Central’s “Straight Plan for the Gay Man,” a three-episode ode to straight slobs who are proud of their slovenly ways.
In the first episode, gay man Jonathan is asked to work in a meat-packing plant for the day and pass himself off as a working man’s man. Subtle phrases aside, the episode spends its time paddling through stereotypes that are so generic, it manages to seamlessly transcend offending anyone.
“Straight Plan” is more aligned with the lowest of the low — shows like “South Park” and “Punk’d” — than with the traditional network strategy of pandering to the largest denominator and sacrificing substance in the process.

Straight Plan for the Gay Man | PopMatters Television Review
Straight Plan for the Gay Man is a send-up of Queer Eye that, as its title announces, reverses the roles of its gay and straight participants.
Each week, a gay man who is curious about what it would be like to experience some facet of the straight world gets his wish granted by four spirited, 20something, gay-friendly heterosexual males.
While the gay man who is transformed is an actual person, the straight guys are not, like the Fab Five, professionals in their respective fields, but comedians.

OK, so the premise that a highly polished gay man would aspire to the baser straight male qualities is a little wobbly, and this isn't nearly as highly produced as 'Queer Eye', but 'Straight Plan' does have its own Brut 33 and cold-pizza-for-breakfast kind of appeal.

Poor Jackie has already misjudged and chucked off two of the straights, thus radically increasing her odds of being humiliated on national TV by falling for a gay man. Meanwhile, the men are jumping into hot tubs with each other in, hem, "an attempt to expose the stealth gays".
Fascinatingly, this explosion in the amount of gays being presented sympathetically on TV comes just as America is busily debating the pros and cons of gay marriage, an issue recently brought to a head by mayors who conducted ceremonies in defiance of state law.
Egged on by a prurient media, these straights are so happy to tie the knot so cynically that it's hard to see how the right wing in the US can seriously claim that gay couples who have been together for decades would destroy the institution of holy wedlock by marrying.

I was a little confused by the cranky tone of Heather Havrilesky's piece on "Straight Plan for the Gay Man." Her primary gripe seemed to be that the show was trying to ride a wave that had already crashed, i.e., that it wasn't sufficiently "trendy." Or that it was too trendy.
The concept is that straight men are such transparently bad liars that any woman who doesn't see right through them must be somehow off-kilter, and in that case, the straight guy still doesn't get to sleep with her.
