Straight is originally from Minnesota, while her husband is from Kansas.
Straight began her Regent career in the MBA program, but then halfway through, some professors encouraged her to transfer into the organizational leadership doctoral program, since it would give her more of what she needed to return to LCC as faculty.
Straight displays a yearbook that students at Lithuania Christian College, where she is the chair of the business department, created this year.

Straight University and Union Normal School were subsequently renamed Straight College and New Orleans University, respectively.
On June 6, 1930, New Orleans University and Straight College merged to form Dillard University, which elected to follow the practices of the two parent institutions in making no distinction as to race, religion or sex in the admission of students or in the selection of faculty.
The university was named in honor of James Hardy Dillard, whose distinguished service in the education of African Americans in the South forms an important chapter in the history of American education.

Approval of STRAIGHT would have created much bitterness and tension in the Penn State community, as well as exacerbating anxiety and fears among the lesbian, gay, and bisexual community and their supporters.
In the case of STRAIGHT, the Court felt that to put the power and prestige of the University behind STRAIGHT by approving the group would have put the University in a bad light.
Also, because every member of STRAIGHT had their own agendas, there was no definitive common vision of how STRAIGHT would function as an officially recognized Penn State University organization.

 March 13, 2004 RAVENS WIN OUA MEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Carleton University Ravens Men's Varsity Basketball team defeated the McMaster University Marauders, 68-59, to capture the 2004 Wilson Cup, and win their second straight OUA Men's Basketball Championship.
This is the first time Carleton has won the OUA Championship on their home court and with the new Alumni Hall and Sports Centre due to open in the Fall of 2004, this was their last post season game in the Ravens Nest.
For the second straight post season game, veteran fourth year tri-captain Mike Smart, Napanee, Ontario was selected as the Game's Most Valuable Player.
