Strake Jesuit College Preparatory is a Jesuit preparatory school for young men in southwest Houston, Texas, founded on June 21, 1960.
The land for Strake Jesuit was donated by Frank Sharp, the developer of Sharpstown, when an order of Jesuit priests made their way down to Houston to start the high school.
Around 2000, Strake Jesuit updated its SJET system with the addition of a Smart Board in every classroom (excluding a rare few in which the teacher did not wish to have a Smart Board in their classrooms).

Jesuit Secondary Education in the New Orleans Province
The institution was named Jesuit High School, and the curriculum offered training in the sciences, humanities, and religion—subjects, which, for centuries, had been the cornerstones of a Jesuit education.
In 1969, the institution was renamed Jesuit College Preparatory School, to better reflect the purpose of its curriculum.
Although there was a new emphasis on preparing students for a college education, the school's primary purpose remained the same: to provide young men with the intellectual and moral foundation necessary to succeed in the modern world.

Strake Jesuit decided to welcome all comers - more than 400, in the end - letting the campus become a second home for students, teachers, and administration evacuated from New Orleans.

The certainty with which the school opened its doors and the students and families opened their hearts is what drew Lahart to the Jesuits; it's a connection that began when he was a Georgetown undergraduate.

 Weekly Update - Dec 28, 2000
Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas and Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in Houston are facing an unfortunate dilemma.
Students and educators at Jesuit and Strake certainly feel that the current system is unfair, especially in light of the fact that the families paying tuition at these schools also pay taxes to help fund the public school system, and yet are unable to participate in ANY league competitions, public or private.
Such an amendment would effectively mitigate the dangers posed to private schools from even casual contact with public programs, and would allow the students at Jesuit and Strake to play sports without their parents worrying that Uncle Sam was slipping into the classroom through the locker room.
