Stratagus is one such project and they just happen to need artists to show off their engine and we just happen to have people in our community who have have been making total conversions and therefore have all the art assets necessary already.
Stratagus isnt the only hope, and the two mentioned above can do voxels too, so those public voxels wont go to waste.
Stratagus look like it can become good, but i dont think it can take RA2's place.

The stratagus engineers, unfortunately, removed a lot of the scripting commands.BTW, when a unit dies, it is removed from the game.
When a unit has achieved its goal (it destroyed the target that was set by the AI engine) it is freed.
Answer: AiAttackForce should be documented in the Stratagus API doc, I guess the Stratagus engineers accidentally removed it.

In the tar there is a script build.bat for windows and build.sh for linux, this file will allow you to catch the data of CD of warcraft 2, the result of script is a directory data.wc2, to copy this directory data.wc2 in SD or CF.
I reran stratagus by itself and it is improving...
I don't see the error messages and stratagus information before I exit the game though -- I guess they are printed after the stratagus window is created.

ProjectInferno is beside Stratagus the second fork of the Freecraft engine, since RoboVasion uses Stragaus.
Stratagus is the new name for the Freecraft engine, it is basically the same as before, just with any Trademark problems removed.
Nope, it will use a normal tilemap, which just happens to look like a isometric hexgrid, even different heights of the map should be possible without actually changing anything of Stratagus core, see this picture for a demonstration.

There are people who have no idea on how to make stratagus > work from source, others that have a superficial idea and do not want to > try (prefer.deb's), and others who want to do the job, but are patiently > waiting for someone to do it or drop it at once.
But not until so much time ago stratagus was only a CVS-driven project.

After some time and hopefully without any errors Stratagus should be ready for installation.
The fitting version for our new Stratagus engine is the development version that we have to download via svn (install svn-client via Fink!).

Just unzip them both, and then put the stratagus executable in the wargus directory, then run build.exe and wartool.exe to extract the data out of the war2 files.
Also, the animation speed doesnt seem to be implemented yet, but build speeds at it's fastest level is that of the original War2 (or Even Faster on BNE if you werent around for the original) The animation speed seems to be moving at about faster or fast (BNE style).
Stratagus is the project that runs the data, they are 2 seperate projects.

Note: The Stratagus engine is the continuation of the Freecraft engine, all game-data from Freecraft will be split out into seperate projects.
Now, don't get me wrong, I think Blizzard was abusing the law when they gave Freecraft the C&D smackdown, but I'm pleased with the direction the project has taken as a result.
I hope that with Stratagus, folks will be encouraged to create new, innovative RTS games.

This is a second test release, should be 100% FreeCraft-name clean, some documentation and such might point to wrong URLs, beside that it should compile and be equal to the latest FreeCraft CVS.
Note that this is only the engine, there are currently no free graphics available, so unless you have an old copy of FcMP around it will be pretty much useless for you at the moment.

It uses Stratagus 2.1-engine and adds loads of maps, units, some new graphics, balancing and bug-fixes.
Development version may be really unstable, but if you want to test it, you have to download BfM and Stratagus with CVS and compile Stratagus yourself.
When Stratagus is patched with these patches, compile Stratagus (Preferrably with SConstruct build-tool) with debug-flag (You will get more useful information when game crashes) enabled (scons debug=y or sh autogen.sh.andand./configure --enable-debugandandmake).

I noticed this when I attempted to install it via 'pkg_add -r stratagus' and lua was not fetched.
Explicit -lc after -pthread seems to break libpthread, the game cores on startup.
