		Stratovarius is a Finnish power metal band, known for its melodic approach to the genre.
		Stratovarius was founded in 1984 in Finland under the name Black Water.
		During this time, Stratovarius began a world tour, started in Argentina, which included a North American leg, where they toured the United States and Canada for the first time in the band's history.

		For the most part, this earlier version of Stratovarius in which guitarist Timo Tolkki still handled the vocals (it was a good thing when they recruited a full time singer) comes across as just another Helloween inspired power metal band with scant original ideas of their own.

		Sonata Arctica are a little less patient than Stratovarius, and thus their songs tend to be slightly less elaborately conceived and somewhat more rapidly executed, but I'm pretty sure that hint would be enough for you to tell the difference between the two bands in blind tests.
		Stratovarius are basically a gateway to this style of music.
		Stratovarius define Bryan's musical coordinates to the first couple decimal places, and when he wears his Stratovarius shirts to school, it's to reply to the other kids flying the banners of other bands in more popular styles of music (which are all worse than this, trust me).

	Stratovarius : Intermission - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
		It's obvious that Intermission is just an attempt to please fans and to postpone the making of their next studio album, but luckily it comes as a treat to those who already have all of Stratovarius' albums.
		Usually these type of albums are only for hardcore fans, but oddly enough, Intermission succeeds to offer a very album-like (a strong and steady whole) compilation.
		It doesn't mean that Intermission would be a good first Stratovarius album (as it isn't a best-of collection), but Intermission surely has something for any fan of melodic metal.

		Stratovarius return with the sequel to last years Elements Part 1 with (surprise, surprise) Elements Part 2, and they're not even done yet.
		Elements is a serious conceptual epic piece of progressive power metal in all its splendor and Elven glory (and you should be happy to know that no elves were harmed in the writing or recording of this album).
		Don't forget Jari Kanulainen (bass) and Jorg Michael (drums), because to keep up with the three who crave for the spotlight is a chore all in itself and without a solid foundation then this musical house would crumble.

		I'll miss the peeps, but my 3-4 dates with DT this year on the coast should be an adequate replacement.
		I mean this is a melodic prog forum and I have only given you guys one band that fits that style so far, and an unknown at that.
		If I have to miss this year's PP, I won't be happy about it but know that I have the utmost admiration for the event and all the respect in the world for Glenn, his work, the regular fans and those who make it all possible.
