November 24, 2006 03:32 PM This subject has always puzzled me. If I purchase a legal firearm from a dealer and the next day I decide that I hate it and sell it to another shooter at the range who is a same state resident, have I violated any Fedral laws.
A straw purchase is when the person who makes the transaction and completes the 4473 with the FFL is not the actual buyer of the firearm.
I'm too lazy to look it up, but IF there's an intent component to a straw purchase, it doesn't matter if you change your mind and sell it 5 minutes after taking delivery as long as you didn't purchase it in the first place with a mind to do that.
