Street Fighter 2010 is actually the first actual sequel to Street Fighter.
Obviously the game is supposed to be set in the future (2010 must have seemed a long way off when they made this) and you play a sort of cybernetic Ken.
But then this is Street Fighter in name only and is not the official sequel (which, as we all know, is Street Fighter 2).

Street Fighter 2010 was released in August of 1990 in Japan and in the United States the following month.
Much confusion surrounds the game's transition from Japan to the U.S. It has been widely reported that Street Fighter 2010 was not a Street Fighter game upon its original release and that Capcom U.S.A. added the Street Fighter name when it came out in the U.S. to capitalize on the franchise's growing popularity.

Akiman didn't do much illustration work after SF2 but he did design work for Street Fighter 3 and it looks like he did some animation keys as well.
If I said that Akiman, Sakomizu, Ukabin did the MSH vs Street Fighter artworks, it's because the staff roll of the arcade version tell that.
Akiman worked in a lot of games after SF2, working on a lot of things, like planning (of the games), character designs, vs screens, endings, covers and other kind of illustations.

Now, I’ll be honest, it’s quite possibly the worst “Street Fighter” game ever made (perhaps second to Street Fighter the Movie the Game), but if you completely ignore the title, this is one of the better games to come out during the end of the original Nintendo’s lifespan.

Capcom's Street Fighter 2010 is a highly underrated platformer for the Nintendo Entertainment System released in 1990.
It has been hated, disliked, and ignored by many largely because of its lack of relevancy to the Street Fighter series, a difficulty level that is high even for a game of its era, and unorthodox gameplay mechanics.
Apparently, Capcom used the Street Fighter name to try and cash in on their terrible 1987 fighter.

But really, Street Fighter 2010 pretty much just cuts out all the crap and gives us what we play these games for directly, the boss battles.
Street Fighter 2010 may be “the worst Street Fighter Game ever made”, but had they titled this baby ANYTHING else, it probably would have spawned its own never-ending franchise of sequels and spin-offs.

SNK vs. series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The supposed origin behind this series was an issue of Arcadia magazine in which there were articles covering both The King of Fighters '98 and Street Fighter Alpha 3, both of which were released at around the same time.
Readers had misread the cover, which said KOF vs. SF, to mean that there was a fighting game that would pit characters from Street Fighter and The King of Fighters.
It is highly suggested that SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom was only made in order to fufill the contract obligations that SNK made prior to the company filing bankruptcy and their eventual closing in 2000.
