		The tragedy that surrounds Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Street Survivors was devastating to the band, occurring just as they were beginning to support the release of this album in 1977.
		For this new 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Street Survivors, the once controversial cover has been restored to reflect the originality of the album, a respectful tribute of sorts to the band and their creativity.
		On this newly released version of Street Survivors, the two-disc set offers not only a clarifying brand new remaster version of the original album (Disc One), but also the unused Criterion sessions recordings of the album, noted for the fact that those recordings were the first creations of songs that you’re completely familiar with.

		The Vesey Street stairway was used by hundreds of people to evacuate the towers on September 11th, 2001.

		Gaines' two songs (and two co-writing contributions) were the kick in the ass that began shifting Lynyrd Skynyrd from a Southern boogie band to a group that could be appreciated at all levels by all sorts of fans.
		Possibly one of the most surprising and most beautiful moments on Street Survivors is "One More Time," a song which began to break Lynyrd Skynyrd out of the boogie band classification.
		This was a band that was at the top of their career when the unthinkable happened; one is left to wonder what new plateaus they would have reached had they been given the chance to follow Street Survivors up.

		This particular tape -- Street Survivors -- is one of those interesting collector's items with a morbid tale behind it.
		Lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and his sister, Cassie, a backup singer, died in the private plane that crashed while carrying the band between shows in Greenville, SC and Baton Rouge, LA. Three days earlier, their sixth album Street Survivors had been released.
		The cover showed the group standing amid flames, and inside was an order form for a ``Lynyrd Skynyrd Survival Kit.'' (I assume there was no "Survival Kit" with the 8-track release.) The album was quickly recalled and the cover was replaced with a similar shot from the same photo session.

		This is a video about a survivor of the Bataan Death March in World War II who managed to continue practicing his profession all through their long ordeal, without instruments, anesthetics, antibiotics, medicines or even simple supplies like bandages and antiseptics.
		He was probably the only survivor, although he has searched everywhere for his younger sister, pictured on this cover, who may have survived also.
