Streetpunk - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Streetpunk is both a subgenre of punk rock and a word that describes punk rockers who are working class and/or from the inner city.
The musical genre is favoured by skinheads, punks and herberts (fans who don't fit into either of the two categories).
It was seen as a reaction against middle- and upper-class punk bands (like Generation X), and against trendy people who embraced the punk lifestyle in a superficial way.

The mid-'90s punk revival led to a renewal of interest in Oi!; many favorite early albums were reissued, and a number of new bands popped up both in the U.K. and overseas.
Thus it was that as the first stirrings of punk began to make their own presence felt on the same circuit, the Stranglers were on board the bandwagon from the beginning.
One of punk rock's longest running bands, the Vibrators emerged from the UK punk scene in 1976 and quickly found themselves sharing the stage with such notable acts as the Sex Pistols.

 FULL BREACH KICKS : BANDS
They are regarded as the best punk combo to come out of Chicago's mean streets since the glory days of The Effigies, with enough hooks, guitar twists, and sing-a-longs to satisfy anyone that's bored with all the watered down retro crap that's passing as ‘77 punk these days.
Their mix of ‘70s punk rock, melody, street punk aggression, and a hint of glam is just perfection.
But while their look and music is classic ’77-style punk rock, the Street Brats have a polished and erudite punk sound that proves that this band has at least been hitting the books to learn its riffs and attitude.

Getting their influences from the '77 punk rock wave, this quartet from Chicago offers us some power pop/punk reminding me of most recent bands such as the EXPLODING HEARTS and SQUAD FIVE-O or even LIBERTINE, especially on "Mind Control" (this track, with powerful backing vocals, is actually my favorite one).
The Street Brats sound has matured and grown over the years into what it is now, as people are gonna see with this new album.
We’ve heard the labels power pop, pop punk, street punk, and even street glam, whatever that is. But to us, we just play straight forward in-your-face punk rock.

 Street punk - Wikipedia

Punk was a cage to go wild in." The raucous reality of the unfolding story is recreated month by month in Ray's riveting photographs, accompanied by his brother's startlingly frank diary entries and handwritten comments from others who were part of the scene.
The volatile reaction to the stale state of most 1970s rock, punk was a do-it-yourself movement that gave voices to a disenfranchised population of young rebels and nihilists.
Though hardly written from a punk's point of view, this serves well as both a history and a cultural context for punk, and is unlikely to be topped by any other.
