  TeenBodybuilding.com - Brent Vlcek - Striation!
Striations are mainly, as mentioned before, found in the chest area.
Striations are the tiny grooves of muscle across major muscle groups in a highly defined body.
Having striations mean you can see the stretching of the muscle sort of like steel cables or stretched plastic wrap.

The causes of striations have been identified by previous workers as the modulation of the instantaneous growth rate of the crystal caused by rotation of the crystal through a static asymmetric temperature gradient in the melt, and/or by unstable convection in the melt.
It is concluded that the reduction in striation amplitude for the MR series is due to the reduced temperature fluctuations in the melt and the thinner diffusion boundary layer which result from the increased stirring of the melt due to the crucible rotation.
It is concluded that the cause of the striations in the ingots studied in the present work is convectional instability in the melt, which is a result of the high thermal gradients required to control the position of the freezing isotherm.

  Striation Information
In geology, glacial striations are grooves or lines inscribed on the surface of a rock, produced by a geological process such as glacial flow.
In mineralogy striations are thin parallel lines (often microscopic) present in a mineral due to crystal twinning.
In fracture mechanics striations are thin parallel lines (microscopic) present in a material due to fatigue cracking.

With the advent of ABS braking systems the importance of the angle of the striations in tire marks took on a whole new meaning.
The latest information regarding identifying yaw marks and the presence of braking indicates that the striation angle will increase to approximately 45 degrees when vehicle braking is active while in yaw.
This is in contrast to the average 20 degree striation marks found in yaw marks when there is no braking involved.

The space of the State apparatus is thus always a striated space, striated precisely by the distribution of these two poles of sovereignty.
And specifically what is repeated in each of the centers of power (prison, barracks, school) is a common striation of social space, a common double articulation between the two poles of sovereignty, between power and right.
Well, I'm reading the striae as the institutions themselves: the school is a striation of society, the prison a striation, etc. In fact, I'm understanding the institutions as striae in the sens that they organize and direct social flows.

A Case Study in Striation Prevention by Targeted Formulation Adjustment: Aluminum Titanate Sol-Gel Coatings   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
By careful consideration of the physical and chemical effects responsible for striation defect formation during spin coating, it is possible to adjust a coating solution's recipe to prevent these coating defects from forming.
An early version of our sol-gel recipe resulted in coatings that were severely striated and therefore unacceptable for their desired application, even though they had formed the correct crystalline phase during subsequent firing.
The widely applicable theory of targeted formulation adjustments to help eliminate striations during spin coating is discussed in light of the current experiments.

Striation Spacing Correlated with Spin Speed and Position
Striation defects are a thickness pattern of coating material on the wafer that has an apparent form similar to a sinusoid.
That means that the striations do NOT form simply as "cells" or dimples at the center that then spread out and elongate as spinning progresses.
For example at R=3 there is 3 times as much circumference, meaning that since the striation spacing is about the same, there will be approximately 3 times as many striations around the wafer at that radius than would be found at R=1.

In a CZ monocrystalline silicon growing apparatus, a seed crystal is dipped in molten silicon in a quartz crucible to grow a "seed neck".
The nonhomogenous distribution of impurities creates growth striation, which may cause crystal defects in silicon wafers formed from the monocrystalline silicon rod.
According to the present invention, in a CZ monocrystaline silicon growing apparatus for growing a silicon monocrystal by pulling up a crystal seed by a wire in a growing furnace, a magnetic ring is mounted on the silicon monocrystal, and an electromagnet is fixed to the growing furnace for pulling up the magnetic ring.

 Whistler Wave - Striation Interaction
Whistler waves are launched toward a field-aligned density striation in a laboratory plasma.
Detailed measurements show that at the striation edge nearest the wave-launching antenna, besides a reflected and a transmitted whistler wave, lower hybrid waves are also stimulated on both sides of the striation boundary in a manner consistent with the linear mode-conversion model.
Our results show that the interaction of electromagnetic whistler mode waves with density striations can cause significant amounts of energy to be deposited in the largely electrostatic lower hybrid mode and that it may, therefore, be a significant generation mechanism for these waves in certain regions of the ionosphere.
