Clowbridge Reservoir is situated to the east of the A682 between Burnley and Rawtenstall, adjacent to an area of the Burnley Millennium Forest known as the Dunnockshaw Community Woodland.
Strinesdale is situated on the A62 between Oldham and Delph.
Watergrove reservoir is situated north of Wardle and the A58 Halifax Road and south of Bacup.

Following the boundary fence across the moor this was the toughest part of the first days walk and there was a sense of achievement when the walk joined the well worn path again at Rapes Highway just north of the Ram's Head.
From there via the Rooden reservoir the walk emerged onto the A640 at the Moorcock.
The walkers arrived in good time for lunch to rendezvous with the dignitaries and guests at two public houses, in Waterhead; the Gardeners Arms on the Yorkshire side of Lees brook and the Bull's Head on the Lancashire side.

We usually walk around Dovestones Reservoir in Greenfield, but this week we’ve been to Strinesdale Reservoir in Waterhead and Piethorne/Ogden Reservoir in Newhey for a change.
It must be nearly twenty years since I had last been to Strinesdale and it has really changed - the council or water board have made it into a little country park with proper gravel paths and picnic benches.
Likewise I’ve driven past Ogden Reservoir dozens of times over the years, but never knew about Piethorne Valley.

In 1991, the reservoirs were drained and replaced by two smaller lakes with the old reservoir sites being planted with trees and grassland.
Strinesdale got its name from the Old English "Strine" meaning boundary, as the old Lancashire/ Yorkshire boundary ran through the middle of the site.

 Action Medlock & Tame
Action Medlock and Tame has been in operation since 1999 and encompasses the entire length of the Rivers Medlock and Tame, which lie mainly in Greater Manchester.
The River Medlock is 35 km in length and begins its course upstream of Strinesdale Reservoir, north east of Oldham.
It flows through the urban areas of Lees, Park Bridge, Droylsdon, Failsworth, Clayton, Bradford, Ancoats and finally into Manchester city centre where it meets the River Irwell, which in turn becomes the Manchester Ship Canal.

Within the laws of planning applications I will oppose continuing reductions in our open spaces.
Waterhead is lucky in that we have Greenacres cemetery, Waterhead park, the playing fields at St Annes' primary school, Counthill school, the lands around Constantine St, Strinesdale reservoir, the Medlock Valley and the playing fields off Turf pit lane and more.
We live in a green part of the borough and I would like to maintain that.

 Oldham Advertiser - Ramble raises hundreds for appeal
A GROUP of walkers aged from seven to 60 (above) expect to have raised hundreds of pounds for our appeal on their annual ramble through the Oldham countryside.
This year, the congregation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, on Ashton Road, chose to donate proceeds from their sponsored walk around Strinesdale reservoir, in Waterhead, to our appeal.
The church has walked for Dr Kershaw’s before, raising money for essential medical equipment.
