		The String Cheese Incident (the name's meaning remains a mystery that the band members half-jokingly refuse to comment on) began as a “newgrass” outfit but has expanded its sound to include healthy doses of jazz, funk, and rock.
		String Cheese concerts now bear little resemblance to the bluegrass mountain hoedowns of the band's early days.
		It's not unusual for String Cheese to play a bluegrass tune such as “How Mountain Girls Can Love” and follow it with a jazz standard such as Weather Report's “Birdland.” Extended jams are typical; songs often go on for 15 minutes and segue nonstop from one to the next for an entire set.

		For those who don't know or have never heard of The String Cheese Incident they can best be described as a jam band, mixing dreamy jams with hillbilly rhythms, with a bit o funk on the side, a Phish meets The Osborne Brothers kind of thing.
		The band came to play, bringing there own sound system and lights and a very professional crew to run it all "The Cheese" played over three hours of music broken up into two sets.The sound was excellent and the lights were just enough to be effective.

		Across the pond here in England we rarely get the chance to see the likes of Phil and Friends, Zen Tricksters, Phish, SCI and other Jambands.
		We did get to see the Dead over the years but these days we rely on the kind tapers and scarce CD releases………….until……String Cheese came up with the idea of putting out CDs of live music from their tours - the "On The Road" series.
		To my estranged English ears this show is String Cheese at their best.
