The new Mondavi season also can be described in reverse by what it doesn’t contain: There are no touring orchestras from Germany or England, no Beethoven symphonies, no European dance companies, no mainstream operas.
In large part, this reflects the fact that fewer big European groups than usual are touring next year; also that the Mondavi Center has covered several Beethoven symphonies in the first four seasons, and there weren’t any touring opera productions that caught the eye of the Mondavi Center’s leadership.
