Pattern composer for fingerboard instrument instruction - Patent 4289057
A course, in the context of stringed fingerboard instruments, is a string or a plurality of strings fingered as a unit and strung adjacent to one another, such as the double stringed courses of the Mandolin.
The indicia of the string stop series (20) indicate ordinal numbers of the string stops of a stringed fingerboard instrument and have spacings which represent musical intervallic magnitudes characteristically used in stopping the strings of a stringed fingerboard instrument, such as the fretting intervals of a fretted instrument.
The musical intervals of string stops represented by the aligned coordinates of the fingering pattern (15) are the same as the musical intervals of string stops represented by the thereto aligned indicia of the string stop series (20).

Test by reading in a string and repeatedly reading in characters, concatenating each onto the end of the previous string until the character entered is 'z'.
Now assign each string pointer to a row of characters in board using the following statement in a loop: strs[i] = board[i]; Once this is done, each slot of strs points to a string of characters (which is the same as a row of the two-dimensional array).

String stop - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In a pipe organ, a string stop is an organ stop that uses a single rank of narrow, conical or tapered flue pipes to produce a bright sound, rich in harmonics.
The pipes may be either open or stopped, and of either metal or wood, see organ pipe.
String tone is one of the four basic foundation sound families of a pipe organ, the others being diapason, flute, and reeds.

A proper violino piccolo had a string stop (distance from nut to bridge) of about 25 cm (the one illustrated by Praetorius had a string stop of 24 cm).
If one is using a half-size violin of string stop of about 28 cm, for each tuning, the string diameters would be one step thinner than that for a quarter-size violin.
If one is using a three-quarter-size violin of about 30 cm string stop, for each tuning, the string diameters would be two steps thinner than that for a quarter-size violin.

Cello: A string stop at 8' or 16'.
Diapason: A flue stop intended to be the backbone of the sound, and traditionally and most commonly at 8' on a manual, and 8' or 16' on the pedals.
Mixture: While any multi-rank stop can be called a mixture, when a stop control is explicitly labelled Mixture, for example 2 2/3' Mixture III, it indicates a multi-rank stop (three ranks in the example) intended to be used in chorus with other stops to build a full sound, rather than on its own.

In measure four, be sure to stop the open E after you play the next note on the second string - this should sound like a line, not an arpeggio.
My favorite technique to stop sympathetic vibrating in the basses is to plant my thumb on the fourth string and just roll it back quickly to touch the fifth and sixth strings (assuming you don't want any of those strings to ring).

A mild String stop of 2-2/3' on the manuals, and 5-1/3' on the pedals, intended to furnish the third harmonic to the unison series in String tone.
The average Swell Organ could not tolerate such a stop, but an unusually large one could if the tone were mild, like that of an Echo Viol.
This is a stop that should not be overused, because it tires the ear and induces indifference to the music being played.

Except for the stop character, these have no effect until after the lines skipped by bypass:P and startline:M. The default stop character is "!", whether reading numerical or CHARACTER data.
When a stop character is found or a line that does not start with the go character is found before N items have been read, reading is stopped and a warning message is printed.
For this usage it is essential that either a stop character terminates the data or keyword phrase n:N limits number of items read.

The pitch of the string length behind the saddle raises as you bend the fretted note.
That once strings are bent or even pressed down to fret(which essentially is a tiny micro bend) the string length behind the saddles now comes into play here and is now part of the strings overall bending tension equation.
The string length that is on each end, each terminating point of the string, be it a nut or saddle varies on different guitar designs.

 LL(1) Parsers
At this stage of the parsing, the string of terminals to the left of A in the sentential form have been matched already against the input, and the parser variable symbol holds the first unmatched token of the input.
This may be detected either in match() or in a parsing procedure for a nonterminal that may not generate the empty string and for which symbol is not in the First set of any of its alternatives.
This tailoring of the stop symbols is critical to the success of Wirth's error recovery algorithm.
